Sharon Lokedi Denies Hellen Obiri Boston Marathon Hattrick as she Strikes Course Record
Sharon Lokedi put up a good fight to silence Hellen Obiri at the Boston Marathon.
It was a sweet revenge for Lokedi, who was left in tears after the race, having had three epic battles with Obiri in the last one year, and losing out to her Kenyan compatriot in all of them.
Lokedi won the race in 2:17:22 which was a new course record, shattering the previous mark by 2 minutes and 37 seconds after Ethiopian Buzunesh Deba had clocked 2:19:59 in 2014.
With that, Lokedi banked a cool $200,000 (Ksh26 million) from a two-hour job, being the $150,000 (Ksh19.4 million) prize for winning the race and an extra $50,000 (Ksh6.5 million) bonus for breaking the course record.
