In her eight years of being an athlete, Omanyala's fiancee Laventa Amutavi has shared one of the most valuable lessons.

Ferdinand Omanyala’s fiancée, Laventa Amutavi has shared some of the key lessons she has learned from her journey and that of Africa's fastest man.

Amutavi encouraged upcoming athletes to be patient since good things take time and they should not be in a hurry to make it.

“I would encourage them to look for great places to train from and ensure that they are aware of what they need to do.

"As an upcoming athlete, you also have to be patient. Most athletes come into the sport and expect to make it to the top in a short period of time, something that is impossible.

"It took Omanyala six years to be where he is at the moment. It has taken me more than eight years and I’m still not where I want to be,” she told Pulse Sports exclusively.

Amutavi added that passion is essential if an athlete is to get to the pinnacle of the sport since there are numerous sacrifices that need to be made.

She added that if you venture into sports for money, you are most likely to give up along the way or engage in heinous activities to make it.

“You need to have passion…you should not join a sport because you want money or something. Money will come but first, do what you love.

"When you venture into the sport because of passion, you will achieve what you have always wanted,” she explained.
