The 45th edition of the London Marathon gets underway on Sunday as marathon greats battle for supremacy.

With a reported record field of more than 56,000 runners, the showdown on the historic course promises to be a spectacle.

Kipchoge and Cheruiyot Lead Kenyan Charge

In the men’s race, Eliud Kipchoge will return to London for the first time since 2020 to chase a record fifth victory.

Sure to contend with the record-chasing Kipchoge are Kenya’s Alexander Mutiso Munyao and Olympic champion, Ethiopia’s Tamirat Tola.

In the women’s race, Olympic champion and 2023 winner Sifan Hassan will line up alongside Paris 2024 silver medalist Tigst Assefa.

They will face stiff competition from Kenyan long-distance great Vivian Cheruiyot.

The former London Marathon winner, who continues to defy age, will be joined by compatriot Joyciline Jepkosgei to fly the Kenyan flag.

Time and Where to Watch?

The London Marathon kicks off at 10:49 EAT.

The elite women’s race starts at 11:05 am, while the elite men hit the road at 11:35 am.

Viewers in Kenya can access the marathon via livestream through FloTrack, while the race will be televised around the world via BBC.
