Obscure athlete Caren Chebet will be hoping to make a name for herself when she toes the line for the 3000m Steeplechase at the African Games.
Little-known Caren Chebet will be trying her luck at the African Games in Accra, Ghana after a mixed outing at the Africa Cross-country Championships in Tunisia.
Chebet finished sixth in the senior women’s race, clocking 33:39.84, to cross the finish line in the race that was won by Cynthia Chepngeno. Virginia Nyambura and Azimeraw Degitu finished second and third respectively.
The 23-year-old now shifts her focus to the 3000m steeplechase at the African Games where she intends to achieve a podium finish.

“I want to go to the African Games and give my best so that I can finish among the top three athletes. If all goes well, I will go for a gold medal,” she said.
She added that her experience in Tunisia was priceless since she was able to learn a lot of things and gain tactics competing against very strong athletes.
