As the athletics season heats up, fans around the world have plenty to look forward to this week with three major events set to take center stage.

From the prestigious TSC London Marathon to the high-profile Kip Keino Classic and the return of the Xiamen Diamond League, there's no shortage of excitement in the world of athletics.

Here are three major athletics events to look forward to this week.

TSC London Marathon

Taking place on Sunday, April 21, the TSC London Marathon is the third and final event of the spring Abbott World Marathon Majors. Known for its competitive fields and fast, flat course, the race promises thrilling performances from elite athletes.

The marathon starts in Greenwich Park and winds its way past iconic London landmarks such as the Cutty Sark and Tower Bridge. Runners will later enjoy views of Big Ben and the London Eye before crossing the finish line on The Mall, near Buckingham Palace.

Five NN Running Team athletes are set to compete in the men's elite race, led by five-time world champion Geoffrey Kamworor. Also lining up in the NN Running Team singlet are Leul Gebresilase, Daniel Mateiko, Marc Scott, and Abel Sikowo, all aiming to make their mark on the London Marathon stage.

Kip Keino Classic

The fifth edition of the Kip Keino Classic will take place at the Nyayo National Stadium this weekend, moving from its original venue, Kasarani Stadium, due to renovations. This high-profile championship has attracted a star-studded lineup of athletes from around the world.

Olympic 200m silver medalist Kenneth Bednarek of the USA and 2016 Olympics javelin champion Thomas Rohler of Germany are among the international stars set to compete. They will be joined by Olympics hammer throw champion Wojciech Nowicki and 2022 world hammer throw champion Pavel Fajdeck.

Homegrown talents, including Commonwealth Games 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala, World 800m champion Mary Moraa, and World 800m silver medalist Emmanuel Wanyonyi, will also be vying for top honors, adding local flavor to the event.

Xiamen Diamond League

Kicking off the 2024 Wanda Diamond League season, the Xiamen Diamond League event will take place on April 20 in Xiamen, China. The event marks a return to Xiamen, which hosted a Diamond League stop in September 2023.

Athletes will compete in seven men's disciplines and eight women's disciplines, collecting valuable points towards the year's final event in Belgium. The Diamond League competition features a total of 16 disciplines, with points accumulated throughout the season determining the athletes who advance to the final event, competing for more prize money and Diamond League titles.

With these three major events on the horizon, athletics fans are in for an action-packed week filled with world-class performances and thrilling competitions. Whether you're tuning in to the TSC London Marathon, the Kip Keino Classic, or the Xiamen Diamond League, expect nothing short of excellence from the world's best athletes.
