Mark Otieno has urged fans to show up for Team Kenya in Tokyo with the same passion they showed Harambee Stars at CHAN, promising a big surprise at the World Championships.

Mark Otieno has urged fans to turn up in large numbers for the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, like they did at the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024), in support of Harambee Stars.

The World Championships begin on Saturday, September 13 and will conclude on Sunday, September 21, with Athletics Kenya having sent a formidable team to make a mark and come back home with medals.

Mark Otieno will be competing in the men’s 4x100m relay, following Kenya’s impressive show at the World Athletics Relays, where the men finished second in the repechage round of the final.

Mark Otieno has been impressive thus far. showing signs of improvement, and he believes the stars will align when the team steps on the track in Tokyo, ready to showcase what they are capable of.

Mark Otieno hinted that the world is not prepared for what Team Kenya has in store at the championship, urging everyone not to miss it.

He added that it promises to be a special event, reflecting the team’s hard work and dedication since the start of the season.

“I don’t think they are ready, but I would urge them to come and support us in large numbers in Tokyo and see how far this journey has already taken us, especially qualifying in the 4x100m. You can see that there is so much improvement, and I believe that this is our time,” Mark Otieno said.

“When the doors have opened and the people selected are the best of the best, to bring medals to our country. We really love our fans, and please come in large numbers the way you came for CHAN.”

Mark Otieno further noted that despite going up against some of the strongest teams, Team Kenya also wants to make a mark.

He observed that some top sprinting nations, including the US, have messed up on the global stage, adding that relays are unpredictable.

“I can say that since we have qualified to go to the World Championships, the pressure is there and we are not going to only test the waters,” he added.

“We have already tested what it’s like, and we believe the favour of the LORD is with us, and you can never know what can happen. I pray that this can be a turning point for sprints in Kenya.”

Mark Otieno has called on fans to support Team Kenya in Tokyo, noting that they are ready to give their all. He believes the fans’ support will help them make history and potentially turn the World Championships into a breakthrough moment for Kenyan sprinting.
