After lessons learned from the African Games in Accra, Ghana, sprint sensation Esther Mbagari is ready for the Africa Senior Athletics Championships challenge.
Trailblazing sprinter Esther Mbagari is ready for the Africa Senior Athletics Championships after impressing at the just-concluded national championships held at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
Mbagari made her national team debut at the African Games in Accra, Ghana but did not live up to the billing due to the different weather patterns and it was just but her first time competing outside of the country.
The two-time national 100m champion noted that she is now ready to go for another competition outside the country and will surely impress this time around. She noted that there were a lot of lessons from the African Games in Ghana that she is working on to avoid repeating the same mistake in Cameroon.

International Olympic Committee boss criticises World Athletics' decision to offer prize money at Paris Olympics
The International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach has slammed World Athletics' idea of awarding gold medallists instead of channeling the money to developing the sport.

“The races have been okay since we started… I went for my first competition in Ghana and I encountered some challenges that prevented me from doing well. This time around, I don’t think I will mess up, I will improve,” Mbagari said.
“It was too hard because the weather there was hot and I’m used to a lower altitude but the weather really affected me. I’m prepared psychologically and I know there will be a lot of heat and my mind is now ready…I will do better."
Meanwhile, at the National Championships, Mbagari successfully defended her 100m title, winning the race in 11.77. She has enjoyed an amazing season so far, from her local races but faltered at the Kip Keino Classic.

Esther Mbagari has revealed her plans to ensure she elevates the level of female sprinters in Kenya, just like Ferdinand Omanyala boosted the male sprinters.
At the second and third Athletics Kenya weekend meets, she managed to secure podium finishes. At the second weekend meet, she managed to finish second in the 100m and won the 200m.
During the third weekend meet, she won both the 100m and 200m in style and also reigned supreme during the African Games national trials. She is slowly cementing her name in the Kenyan sprinting and through her hard work, she is surely destined for greatness.
