“The team plays a very vital aspect in having a generally good mindset, especially the support of the team in training and out of training.

"Being together, talking over life issues, talking over the career, and talking over the barriers we encountered in the sport and also in life in general is a plus for me.

"There is always a saying that if you’re able to share your challenges it’s always halfway solved. So, it’s very important and vital for me or for everyone to have a great team around you,” Cheptegei said in an interview.

Meanwhile, Cheptegei has enjoyed an amazing 2023 season that saw him mark a great milestone in his career, making his full marathon debut in the streets of Valencia. In the race, he faded to finish 37th in 2:08:59, but the most important thing is that he was able to finish the race.

He also successfully defended his world 10,000m title at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

He is now enjoying his off-season with his family but will be back in training as he eyes more success in the Olympic season.
