Beatrice Chebet has explained how she plans to conquer both the 5,000m and 10,000m at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

Double Olympics champion Beatrice Chebet has explained what gives her confidence of winning another 5,000m and 10,000m double gold this year.

Chebet pulled off a major coup last year, when she scooped Olympics gold in both 10,000m and 5,000m in Paris, and heading into the 2025 World Championships, in Tokyo, Japan in September, she is confident of another double act.

The 25-year-old, who had already hit the 10,000m qualifying time for the World Championships, still turned up for the trials to Tokyo at Ulinzi Complex in Nairobi on Tuesday, finishing third behind Janeth Chepng’etich, Agnes Jebet and she has great confidence in Team Kenya.

“Running alongside Janet and Agnes was amazing. We were running as a team to see how we are going to focus on the Tokyo World Championships and how we are going to work together as a team and bring medals home,” Chebet told the media.

“The team is good, Kenyans need to wait for good results from us. We promise we are going there as ambassadors,” she added.

Looking forward to the World Championship, Chebet is counting on her experience in Paris to get her over the line in Tokyo.

“It is not easy but I am going to try. You know, going for the 5,000m and 10,000m double for the first time in Paris and winning two gold medals motivated me and for the World Championships, I am going there again and hoping for good results,” said Chebet.

“I did not have any pressure coming here, I wanted to have a good race, enjoy the weather at home to make my fans happy.”

Chebet has been in good form, staying unbeaten over the 5,000m, and had clocked a world record at Prefontaine Classic early this month before her race at Ulinzi Complex.
