The Kenyan distance sensation clocked a stunning 8:11.56 to cross the finish line in first place ahead of Italy’s Nadia Battocletti, who also dropped a splendid time, 8:26.27. Ireland’s Sarah Healy rounded up the podium in 8:27.02.
Junxia Wang of China is currently the fastest 3000m runner in the world, having clocked a stunning 8:06.11 in a race in Beinjing in September 1993. Another Chinese, Yunxia Qu was second in the rankings with 8:12.18 but Beatrice Chebet has now overtaken her with the splendid time.
