Agnes Ngetich and Daniel Simiu are the winners of the 10km senior race in the third leg of Athletics Kenya Cross-Country.

World Cross-country bronze medallist Agnes Jebet Ngetich and World 10,000m silver medallist Daniel Simiu have extended their hot streaks to the third leg of the Athletics Kenya Cross-Country Meet held at Kyongong Grounds, Bomet County on Saturday.

Ngetich, who is fresh from winning the 10km race at the Brasov Running Festival, clocked 31:55 to win the race. Cynthia Chepngeno and Sandra Chebet finished second and third in respective times of 31:59 and 32:11.

In the post-race interview, Ngetich said she is using the cross-country meetings as part of her Paris 2024 Olympic preparations where she will be competing in 10,000m.

“Today’s race wasn’t that bad…I have been improving slowly and my bronze medal at the World Cross-country Championships was motivation enough for me to compete in other cross-country races," she explained.

"I am planning to vie for a ticket to the Olympic Games in the 10,000m. I want to go and represent my country and come back with great results and hopefully finish in the podium bracket."
