Winny Chepng'etich Bii has set new Kenyan national triple jump record at the Oklahoma State Indoor Track & Field meeting in the USA.

Winny Chepng'etich Bii has smashed the Triple Jump national record at the Oklahoma State Indoor Track & Field meeting in the USA on Saturday.

Bii soared to a monumental leap of 13.72 meters, shattering the previous Kenyan national record in the event.

This achievement came after her third jump registered at 13.54m, setting the stage for a record-breaking finale that captivated the audience and solidified her status as a premier athlete on the international stage.

Competing in Oklahoma, USA, Bii exceeded expectations by surpassing the former record of 13.49 meters she herself set, outdoing Gloria Mulei's 2019 record of 13.05 meters.

Bii's journey to the top has been both inspiring and groundbreaking. In 2022, she became the first Kenyan to qualify for the long jump at the Under 20 Championship in Cali, Colombia.

Her transition to Oklahoma State University in the USA, where she is currently studying Business and Sports Management, marked a significant turning point in her career.

Balancing academics with rigorous training, Bii's routine of attending classes in the morning and training in the afternoon has proven to be a successful formula, leading to her latest triumph.

Her journey is not just about breaking records; it is about breaking barriers.

As the first Kenyan woman to qualify in field events for any World Athletics Championships through competitive means, she has paved the way for future generations of Kenyan athletes.

Her transition from triple jump to long jump, highlighted by her personal best of 5.72m at the Epreuves Ouvertes meeting in France, showcases her adaptability and drive to excel in multiple disciplines.
