Incumbent Officials to step down as national volleyball body prepares for electing new leadership.

The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) is gearing up for upcoming elections as the terms of incumbent officials have finally expired.

After facing unavoidable delays, the federation has announced its plans to hold branch elections on the 15th of this month, followed by the national elections on the 29th.

The acting President of the KVF, Charles Nyaberi, confirmed the developments and assured that preparations were underway.

"We are planning to have the elections at the end of the month, we are doing modalities this week with the tribunal and Sports Registrar then by about Wednesday we will announce the definite times," said Nyaberi. "Everything is going well," he added.

According to the 2013 Sports Act, the 49 duly registered and approved devolved units of the Kenya Volleyball Federation will exercise their voting rights in these elections.

It is mandatory for all officials of national federations to serve a maximum of two four-year terms, and most of the incumbent officials have already completed their tenure, thereby making way for new leadership.

The last extension of their terms was granted on January 28th, when the KVF General Assembly decided to extend the current officials' mandate by 90 days. However, this additional period is coming to an end, paving the way for fresh faces to take charge of the federation.

Among the candidates vying for the presidency is Charles Nyaberi, the current First Vice President of the KVF, who is seeking to occupy the office left vacant by the late President Waithaka Kioni.

Nyaberi is joined by Second Vice President David Kilundo and former treasurer Edward Lusaka in the race for the top post.

The competition is expected to be fierce as each candidate brings unique qualifications and visions for the future of Kenyan volleyball.

Interestingly, the national head coach, Paul Bitok, has decided to shift his focus from coaching to administration, aiming to secure the First Vice President's position. Outgoing treasurer Kenneth Tonui has also expressed his ambitions by running for the office of Second Vice President.
