The Oilers will be seeking to reclaim the title they last won in 2005.

Kenya Pipeline women's volleyball team will face Zamalek in the 2023 Africa Women's Volleyball Club Championship final on Monday evening.

The Oilers made it to the final after dismissing Carthage 3-2 (18-25, 27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-9) despite the Tunisian's spirited fight for a comeback.

Zamalek, on their side, defeated Mouloudia Club D'alger of Algeria 3-1 (25-18, 23-25,25-17, 25-18) in the other semi-final.

Speaking before the final, Pipeline captain Rose Magoi lauded her teammates for their spirited performance in the competition.

"We have been working together as a team to achieve that common goal. We aim at winning the title this time round," Magoi told reporters.

"From the first day of the championship, we have been up to the task against our opponents all through and Zamalek will not be an exception. We are clearly driven to win the title and spice up our good season,” she added.

On their way to the semis, Kenya Pipeline, who finished third in their last outing in 2022, stunned Nyong et Kelle Volleyball Club of Cameroon 3-0 in the quarterfinals.

The Oilers last featured in the final in 2015 in Egypt when they lost to former champions Al Ahly 3-1.

Defending champions KCB bowed out of the competition in the quarterfinals stage where they were eliminated by the little-known Mouladia Club D'alger of Algeria.
