Iheanacho's defiant shirt message hints at Leicester City exit after lack of game time
Kelechi Iheanacho appeared to have dropped a major hint over his Leicester City future following the Foxes promotion to the Premier League.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that a video of Iheanacho with a defiant message printed on his shirt during the Foxes' Championship title celebrations has gone viral on social media.
Iheanacho hints Leicester's exit
The Nigerian striker, who struggled for regular game time this season, had the words "We've got history. When I'm gone, you gonna miss me" emblazoned across his jersey as Leicester paraded the trophy.
It was a clear statement of intent from the 27-year-old after making just 10 starts and 23 appearances in the just-concluded campaign.
Iheanacho managed five goals and one assist but was clearly a peripheral figure, playing just 12 minutes in the final day defeat to Blackburn at the King Power Stadium.
His lack of involvement has seemingly left the former Manchester City man pondering his next career move, with the shirt inscription suggesting he expects his four-year stint at the King Power Stadium to come to an end this summer.
Nicknamed the 'Senior Man', Iheanacho reminded fans of his place in Leicester folklore with the first half of the shirt message - a nod to his crucial goals in their historic wins which also include that 2020/21 FA Cup triumph.
But the latter part hinted he believes his time with the East Midlands club is drawing to a close as he seeks more regular first-team action.
At 27 and in the prime of his career, the Super Eagles forward will likely have no shortage of suitors if he does depart, with his knack for scoring important goals always an attractive asset.
While he couldn't reach the same prolific heights as during that famous 2020/21 season, the Nigerian still played a part in helping Leicester return to the PL.
Whether this summer does prove his Leicester swansong remains to be seen. But Iheanacho has certainly given Foxes fans food for thought with his eyebrow-raising shirt message as the celebrations continue.
