Responding to the transfer talk, Ten Hag spoke warmly about Antony’s abilities and their strong bond:

“He has great quality. I signed him twice. He was like a son to me, he still is a son to me,” Ten Hag said, according to a Fabrizio Romano post on X.

However, the Dutch tactician set the record straight on Leverkusen's intentions: “We’re not interested in him at the moment, but we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Focus Remains on Rebuilding Leverkusen

Having recently taken charge at Leverkusen after his spell at Old Trafford, Ten Hag has been linked with a host of familiar faces for potential transfers.

However, he insists his focus is on building a new era at the German club with a fresh group of players and ideas.

For now, Antony will remain at Manchester United with his immediate future undecided, while Ten Hag’s comments confirm that, for the time being, a reunion in Germany is off the table.

Fans, especially United supporters, who want Ten Hag to take the Brazilian with him again, will now watch to see if either man’s situation changes as the transfer window unfolds.

Meanwhile, Leverkusen players, including Nigeria Super Eagles forwards, Nathan Tella and Victor Boniface, have received a clear message from their new boss ahead of the new season.

As reported by Pulse Sports, Ten Hag has made it clear ot the players that it’s a new era at the BayArena and everyone is starting at zero.
