‘We will see a new man’ - Super Eagles goalkeeper Okoye backed to return to starting lineup after ban
Okoye has been a key figure for Udinese since arriving from Watford in the summer of 2023, successfully reviving his career in Italy.
However, he received a two-month ban after being found guilty of participating in a betting-related offence.
With his suspension now served, the Super Eagles goalkeeper is expected to be back between the posts for Udinese's first Serie A match after the international break.
Turci tips Okoye to return to starting lineup
Turci, who also played for Udinese during his career, believes the Nigerian international will be highly motivated to re-establish himself as the team's first-choice keeper.
"I believe we will see a new man. He will want to regain credibility with everyone around him," Turci said, as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb.
"I’m also curious to see him in action again. He may lack match rhythm initially, but he will compensate with enthusiasm and attention."
"I think Runjaic will continue to rely on him. He has always been the starter, and Sava [Silvestri] has not shone in his absence," he explained, implying Okoye's return would bring much-needed stability to the defence.
The former coach highlighted the confidence Udinese manager Kosta Runjaic has in Okoye, suggesting the 26-year-old will be reinstated without delay.
Turci noted that Okoye's replacement, Marco Silvestri, failed to make a strong impression in his absence.
