Mourinho's Roma lost 3-1 to Atalanta on Monday night in a high-octane affair at Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, home of Atalanta.
Roma came into the game on a high after beating Feyenoord 4-1 to book a spot in the semi-final of the Europa League and the schedule and possible fatigue probably led to Mourinho making changes.
Mourinho on Roma's defeat to Atalanta
Following the 3-1 defeat, Mourinho gave his thoughts to Italian outlet DAZN.
“I don’t agree with those who claim we played badly: we played an excellent match and in the end the episodes determine the final result,” he said.

“We controlled the match in the first half, but the first goal was an episode. Tammy has to take a foul and he didn’t take it, we just stared at the ball and Pasalic scored.
We had some tired players on the pitch and it showed.”
“We finished the game with 9 players, it’s difficult for me to be critical of a team that plays within its limits. In terms of attitude and team spirit, I’m super satisfied.”
Roma still in Champions League race
Roma are fifth in the Serie A standings, level with fourth-place Milan on 56 points with 7 games left to play. Mourinho's men welcome Milan to the Stadio Olimpico for what is sure to be a cracking game.
