Nigeria's Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has revealed that the team has yet to receive the $100,000 cash reward promised by the federal government for their historic victory at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

President Bola Tinubu had celebrated the team's triumphant return and pledged generous rewards, including $100,000 each for the 24 players, $50,000 each for the 11 technical staff, a three-bedroom apartment for each player in the Renewed Hope Estate in Abuja, and the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) for all team members and technical crew.

The Super Falcons clinched their record-extending 10th WAFCON title in a dramatic comeback 3-2 win over Morocco.

At a grand reception at the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu lauded their resilience and congratulated them for inspiring millions across Nigeria.

However, speaking in a recent Instagram video, Ajibade expressed frustration, saying, "We've not received our money. They haven't paid. Hopefully, they will pay."

She also noted that other entitlements like match bonuses remain unpaid, calling the situation a "work in progress."

Ajibade urged the authorities to expedite the payments, highlighting that people have been asking them for financial help.

Despite the delay in receiving the funds, Ajibade remains optimistic that the government will fulfill its promises to the team.
