Ugandan players abroad update: Mugabi shines as Onyango's Sundowns make a comeback

Various Ugandan players played in different leagues worldwide, and here's a breakdown of their recent performances.

Bevis Mugabi (Motherwell):

Uganda Cranes defender Bevis Mugabi put on a standout performance, earning the Man of the Match title, as he led his team to a 1-0 victory over Hearts of Midlothian on Sunday.

This win extended Motherwell's unbeaten streak to 10 games, their longest since 2010.

Mugabi is set to join the Uganda Cranes squad for the upcoming AFCON 2023 fixture against Niger on Thursday.

Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns)

Former Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango made it into the 18-man squad as Sundowns staged a comeback to secure a 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs in the first leg of the MTN 8 semi-final.

Onyango, on the bench, watched as Chiefs took the lead through Edson Castillo in the 61st minute, but Khuliso Mudau equalized in added time.

Joackim Ojera and Charles Bbaale (Rayon Sport)

Ojera and Bbaale played for 'Gikundiro' on Friday evening but couldn't lead the team to a victory, resulting in a 1-1 draw against Amajugu.

This draw means Rayon Sport has yet to win in two consecutive league games.

Additionally, goalkeeper Simon Tamale appeared in a friendly match on Saturday, helping the side secure a 1-0 win against Sudan's Al Merrikh. Tamale is yet to make an official league appearance for the Blues.

John Byamukama and Deogratious Ojok

Byamukama and Ojok, who were part of Tusker in the Kenya Premier League, played for 60 minutes as the brewers earned a point in a 1-1 draw against Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday.

Rogers Mugisha (Gor Mahia)

U-20 Uganda Hippos forward Rogers Mugisha made an impressive start with his new team, playing the entire match as K'Ogalo secured their first league win.

Mugisha joined Jonathan Mckinstry's side in August, replacing Shafik Kagimu, who joined Macedonian side FK Rabotnichki.
