UEL: Osimhen’s Galatasaray get tough Europa League draw as Man United loom

The draw for the playoffs was held today, with teams from ninth place to 24th place knowing their faith before the Round of 16 draw.

The Turkish side failed to secure an automatic qualification to the Round of 16 after losing 2-1 to Ajax on Thursday night.

Victor Osimhen, who scored five goals in the competition, could only score a consolation goal for his team in the loss.

Ahead of a possible Round of 16 clash with either Tottenham or Manchester United, Galatasaray will face AZ Alkmaar in a playoff.

According to Galatasaray's official X account, “Our opponent in the UEFA Europa League Play-Off Round is AZ Alkmaar.”

The Turkish side faces a tough test in their playoff clash and will need a win to qualify for the knockout phase.

They will need to get a win without their star player, Osimhen, who has been suspended for the first leg due to accumulated yellow cards.

With a victory, they will advance to the Round of 16 draw and may play Premier League side Spurs or Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray will be looking to bounce back from their defeat in the UEL when they face Gaziantep in the Turkish League.
