Turkish journalist tells Galatasaray players to worry about Osimhen achieving success with Nigeria
Victor Osimhen's participation with the Nigerian Super Eagles has been a source of tension among Galatasaray fans following his injury on international break. Cim-Bom head coach Okan Buruk admitted as much, stating that they worry whenever the 26-year-old goes off to represent Nigeria.
Turkish football analyst Ali Naci Kucuk brought to the fore of the minds of Galatasaray fans that they would soon lose Osimhen to Nigeria for many games, as the AFCON is approaching.
What Kucuk said
The AFCON is set to run from the 21st of December to the 18th of January. Nigeria are one of the favourites for the competition, and Kucuk worries that Cim-Bom will miss the former Napoli man for many matches, including the big UCL clash against Atletico Madrid next year.
“Galatasaray players are unaware of the threat of the African Cup starting in December,” Kucuk said, per the Daily Post. “Victor Osimhen will join the Nigerian National Team camp in the second week of December.
“If Nigeria advances to the African Cup final, Osimhen will be unable to play for Galatasaray until January 20th. He will be unable to play in four Süper Lig matches.
“There’s also a chance he’ll miss the Atletico Madrid match. In this scenario, Okan Buruk is trying to win over Icardi.”
