The Gunners aim to strengthen their squad following three consecutive seasons falling short in the Premier League title race, hoping to secure their first league trophy since 2003-04.

The expected transfer of Real Sociedad's Zubimendi, who reportedly arrived in London on Friday, will reinforce Arsenal's midfield base.

Why Arsenal want Norgaard

However, with Jorginho having already departed and Thomas Partey's contract negotiations stalled, the club is keen to add another midfielder.

The Mirror report the North London club’s interest in Norgaard, the 31-year-old Brentford captain, who has two years remaining on his current deal.

The Dane started 34 Premier League matches last season, contributing to Brentford's 10th-placed finish.

He is noted for his comfort in possession, completing 1,427 passes, and his strong defensive contributions, leading his team in tackles in both defensive and middle thirds, and interceptions.

His proven Premier League experience and reliability make him an attractive prospect for Mikel Arteta's side, who seek players capable of making an immediate impact.

What’s next for Arsenal?

Arsenal, who face Manchester United in round one of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, hope to finalise more extensions and incomings by the start of pre-season in July.
