In quotes relayed by Fraternite, he said, "Against Nigeria, we were pegged back by Osimhen a few minutes before the end.

"I know this team well from having coached them. They sometimes tend to take their foot off the gas when they think they have qualified.

"This can give their opponents the opportunity to spring a surprise, as was the case with Rwanda."

The former Nigerian head coach revealed that the Super Eagles gave Rwanda the win and did not put effort to win the game.

The Super Eagles had nothing but dignity to play for on the last day of play in Group D of Afcon qualifying, as they were assured of first place in the group while Rwanda, Benin, and Libya fought for second place.
