‘Some very enjoyable moments’ — Icardi looking forward to strike-partnership with Osimhen

Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi is eager to reignite his on-field chemistry with Victor Osimhen this season after the duo’s limited opportunities together last year.

The Argentine is confident that with both in top form, the Yellow-Reds can achieve even greater success in domestic and European competitions.

Reflecting on the 2023/24 campaign, Icardi recalled how injuries prevented him and Osimhen from fully realising their partnership.

“Unfortunately, last year, there were only a few matches where we could be on the pitch at the same time as Victor. Those were some very enjoyable moments,” he said via the club’s official website.

Osimhen, who initially joined on loan before sealing a permanent move this summer, shone as the league’s top scorer, but Icardi’s season-ending injury curtailed their time together.

“We didn’t get to enjoy the entire year. But the most important thing was always to win the championship and the trophy. We want to continue this year,” he added.

While looking forward to sharing the frontline with Osimhen, Icardi emphasised the importance of the team’s collective strength.

“Besides Victor and I, there are many players who have been performing very well in training and want to get playing time. We will win together. We will all win together,” he stated.

The 31-year-old believes Galatasaray’s depth will be vital in their push for silverware, with his reunion with Osimhen promising both goals and excitement.

“Also, Victor was the top scorer last season. We will play together again this year. It will be a lot of fun,” he concluded.
