The versatile attacker has been a standout performer for both his club and the national team, attracting attention from numerous clubs.

While speculation has been rife, Mokwena, the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, has now publicly confirmed his club's pursuit of the talented winger.

Relebohile Mofokeng burst onto the South African football scene late in the 2022/23 season after being handed his debut by Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro.

Since then, the 21-year-old has become a key player for the Buccaneers, contributing to two MTN8 titles, two Nedbank Cups, and a Carling Knockout trophy.

His impressive performances have linked him with several high-profile clubs, including English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, Scottish giants Rangers, and Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly. However, a move has yet to materialise for the highly-rated youngster.

Rulani Mokwena Confirms MC Alger's Ambition

Speaking to the media after a recent league victory, MC Alger coach Rulani Mokwena acknowledged his club's interest in Mofokeng but revealed the player's personal ambition is to play in Europe.

"I know the [MC Alger] fans want Mofokeng, I know this, and believe me, I want Mofokeng," Rulani Mokwena stated. "He is a South African, a player that I also speak to about certain things in South African football."

"I can tell you that the player has had many, many offers and has set his sights on going to Europe," he continued. "The club is ambitious, the club has exploited that possibility, but the player has no ambitions to play in Africa. It's not a lack of ambition from the president."

Relebohile Mofokeng: Player Ready for Overseas Challenge

Relebohile Mofokeng himself has recently expressed his desire to test his skills abroad, stating he is prepared for a new challenge after his time with the Soweto giants.

"I think if something can be available for me, I can get the chance somewhere in another country. I think it will be a very good move," Mofokeng told the media. "When I get a chance, I’ll just have to grab it."

Earlier in the season, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos suggested that the constant transfer speculation had negatively affected the young player's form.

"Why is Rele not at the level he was last year? It’s very clear, they made him crazy!" Hugo Broos commented.

"You can’t ask a guy at the age of 20, that he can say yes, I’m concentrating on football, not what those guys are telling me... At the end, you listen, and this is normal; you can’t blame Mofokeng for that."

Following South Africa's exit from the Africa Cup of Nations, Relebohile Mofokeng and his Orlando Pirates teammates are now set to return to domestic action.
