Report: Barcelona’s Hansi Flick says ‘yes’ to Rashford signing

Barcelona’s search for a new left winger has taken a dramatic turn, with manager Hansi Flick reportedly giving the green light to pursue Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.

After missing out on Nico Williams, who has opted to stay at Athletic Club, the Catalans are turning their full attention to alternative targets, with Rashford emerging as a genuine contender.

With Nico Williams no longer an option and Luis Diaz’s move complicated by Bayern Munich’s interest, Rashford has quickly become the most attainable name on Barça’s shortlist.

According to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, Hansi Flick has personally approved the move, signalling the club’s intent to press ahead with a formal approach.

The idea is to bring Rashford in on an initial loan deal, with an option to buy him permanently next summer, an arrangement that would allow the financially constrained La Liga giants to manage their wage bill more effectively.

Rashford, for his part, is said to be keen on the switch and is reportedly willing to slash his current wages to make the deal work within La Liga salary rules. That determination from the England international is music to Barcelona’s ears as they attempt to reshuffle their attack ahead of the new season.

Manchester United are understood to be frustrated with the situation, as they would prefer to offload Rashford permanently this summer to raise funds for their own rebuild.

However, Rashford is said to be laser-focused on a move to Catalonia and will reportedly reject any other offer unless Barcelona is off the table.
