Record breaker: DR Congo superstar Wissa becomes Brentford’s all-time top scorer against Guardiola

DR Congo’s striker Yoane Wissa has made headlines after scoring his 37th Premier League goal to become Brentford's all-time leading scorer in the league.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that this milestone was achieved during a thrilling match against Manchester City, where Brentford staged a remarkable comeback to secure a 2-2 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium.

In the match, Brentford initially found themselves trailing after Manchester City's Phil Foden scored twice in the second half, giving the reigning champions a 2-0 lead.

However, Wissa ignited the Bees' fightback by converting a well-placed cross from Mikkel Damsgaard, which Mats Roerslev squared.

The 28-year-old steadied himself before finishing past City's goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, marking the historic goal that saw him surpass Ivan Toney's previous record of 36 for the Bees.

Brentford's resilience shone through as they equalised with another goal from Christian Norgaard just ten minutes later, ensuring that Manchester City dropped points for the 11th time this season and slipped to sixth place in the Premier League standings.

Meanwhile, Brentford remain in 10th place, continuing their strong home record this season.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank praised Wissa's achievement as "incredibly impressive," highlighting his significant contribution since joining the club for £8.5 million from Lorient in August 2021.
