PSG or Real Madrid? Maresca comments on preference for Club World Cup final
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has revealed his choice for the Club World Cup final.
The Blues advanced to the title match after defeating Fluminense 2-0, with both goals coming from Joao Pedro on his full debut.
Maresca's team delivered a mature and controlled performance at MetLife Stadium, limiting their opponents throughout the match while creating numerous scoring opportunities.
Joao Pedro's opening goal arrived in the 18th minute, a powerful 20-yard strike into the far corner. He then sealed the victory shortly after half-time, firing the ball in off the crossbar following a strong run on goal.
What Maresca said
Speaking after the game, Maresca stated he has no preferred opponent for Sunday's Club World Cup final, where they will face either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid.
The Italian remained diplomatic when asked about his final preference, acknowledging both potential opponents as top teams.
"They are both top teams. One won the Champions League this season, the other one last season. They are top teams but we are proud and we are happy to be there," Maresca said at full-time.
"It is a great achievement. It has been a fantastic season; top four in the Premier League, Conference League and now in the final of this competition - we are so, so happy.
"We go game by game. Finally we have the last game of the season and hopefully we can win the tournament."
What’s next for Chelsea?
Chelsea are aiming to conclude an excellent season by winning the inaugural Club World Cup, having already secured the Europa Conference League title and Champions League qualification.
The final will be played on July 13.
