LALIGA and Next Generation
The well-attended initiatives also had in attendance Super Eagles legend Mutiu Adepoju, who is a LALIGA Ambassador and LALIGA delegate, global network and country manager for Nigeria and Ghana, Desmond Chiji.
Speaking on the initiative, Chiji shed light on the idea behind the Spanish league’s decision to engage players in the grassroots.
"It's just a simple LaLiga Talks,” Chiji told Pulse Sports. “We are here to talk to the kids, inspire, teach and encourage them - because football as we know it is a team sport."
LaLiga already has a youth partnership with the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, but unlike the U15 Promises, this specific event is focused on building awareness and knowledge through direct engagement with academies and schools.
"Our idea on the grassroots level is to continue to build that level to begin to educate them so that by the time they get to the level that they want to perform they would have a lot of information they'd be able to use in their development as football players even as human beings as well," he added.
Through LaLiga Talks, the organisers hope to develop well-rounded players and impart life lessons that will help Nigeria's youth on and off the field.
By investing in the next generation, LaLiga aims to continue strengthening its football's foundations in the country.
