‘Osimhen was like this’ — Galatasaray boss hoping to pull off another transfer masterstroke

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has revealed that the Turkish champions are actively working on securing another high-profile signing similar to their move for Victor Osimhen.

With the transfer window still open in Turkey despite closing across Europe’s top five leagues, Buruk believes the club can capitalise on new opportunities in the coming days.

While clubs in England, Spain, Italy, France, and Germany rushed to finalise deals before the February 3 deadline, Turkish clubs still have a seven-day window to strengthen their squads.

Galatasaray, already bolstered by the arrival of Álvaro Morata from AC Milan, are looking to make another statement signing.

Buruk pointed to Osimhen as an example of how the club can attract top talent even when major European clubs fail to finalise moves.

The Nigerian forward was close to joining PSG, Arsenal, or Chelsea last summer, but after those deals fell through, Galatasaray quickly swooped in to secure him on loan from Napoli.

“When we enter the last week, very important players that we can call ‘opportunity transfers’ may emerge,” Buruk said, adding, “Osimhen was like this. We will look at it like this again. There are players we have talked to and considered. There is a race in transfers. You are competing with Europe.”

Since arriving in Istanbul, Osimhen has been a revelation, scoring 17 goals and providing five assists in just 22 appearances across all competitions.

His impact has helped Galatasaray reach the top of the Super Lig standings, and Buruk is hoping to replicate that success with another major signing.

“We have many quality players in the Galatasaray squad, such as Osimhen and Morata. This work is ongoing,” Buruk concluded.

Osimhen’s latest contribution for Galatasaray came in a 1-0 victory over Gaziantep FK, extending their lead at the top of the table to six points over Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

With a few days left before Turkey’s transfer window closes, Galatasaray are working tirelessly to bring in another marquee signing that could further strengthen their push for domestic and European success.
