Following her withdrawal from the Millrose Games on February 1, reigning Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred is officially ready to ignite her 2026 indoor season.
The Saint Lucian sprint sensation has been confirmed for the Woo Pig Classic in Fayetteville, Arkansas, this Saturday, February 7.
Her decision to compete in Fayetteville marks a strategic return to a track where she dominated during her collegiate years at the University of Texas.
Julien Alfred: Overcoming a Challenging 2025 Campaign
While 2025 saw Julien Alfred solidify her status as a global icon, it was also a season defined by physical resilience.
Despite securing a hard-fought bronze medal in the 100m at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, her campaign was cut short in dramatic fashion.
During the 100m final, Julien Alfred sustained a grade 1 hamstring strain, a nagging injury that forced her to withdraw from the 200m event.
"On the advice of medical professionals... the decision to withdraw prioritises her health and long-term career," the Saint Lucia Athletics Association stated at the time.
Julien Alfred: Why the Woo Pig Classic?
The withdrawal from the Millrose Games on February 1 sparked rumours regarding her fitness, but her entry into the Woo Pig Classic confirms those concerns were misplaced.
In a recent interview with the CITIUS MAG podcast, Julien Alfred expressed her excitement for the shorter sprint.
"I love the 60m. It’s really a fun year for me doing the things that I actually love and enjoy... I'm really looking forward to competing in the 60m again."
The world 200m silver medallist currently holds a personal best of 6.94 seconds in the 60m, making her the joint second-fastest woman in history.
With no major outdoor global championships on the 2026 calendar, her primary focus is the world indoor record of 6.92 seconds before she switches her focus outdoors and hopefully maintains a perfect run until the end of the season.
Fayetteville’s Randal Tyson Track Centre is known for producing blistering times, making it the perfect stage for Julien Alfred to test her explosive start.
