The reigning world 100m champion enjoyed a stellar 2025 campaign and has confirmed his ambition to extend that momentum into the coming year.

After struggling with a toe injury in the previous season, Oblique Seville underwent surgery that fully resolved the issue, allowing him to finish 2025 on a high.

Despite the earlier setback, he claimed multiple Diamond League victories in London and Lausanne, culminating in a personal best of 9.77 seconds to win the men’s 100m final at the World Athletics Championships.

Oblique Seville has expressed his determination to remain a dominant force in track and field, reflecting on the highs and lows of his athletic journey.

He acknowledged the motivation that comes from experiencing both the disappointment of missing out on the podium and the thrill of standing atop it.

Oblique Seville emphasised that the feeling of success at the highest level is incomparable and has fueled his ambition to sustain that level of performance for an extended period.

The Jamaican sprint king made it clear that his focus for the upcoming seasons is not just on individual victories but on consistently being among the sport’s elite, aiming to make a lasting impact and maintain his presence on the podium.

“I want to be dominant in the sports of track and field because I know how it feels not to be on the podium, and I know how it feels to be on the podium and be on the podium. I'll be on the podium for quite some time because it's a great feeling, and I want to stay on the podium,” Oblique Seville told Television Jamaica.

Oblique Seville further mentioned that he would be discussing his plans with his coach, Glen Mills, to determine the best course of action moving forward.

He also indicated that he is considering running some 200m races to assess his form and gauge the times he can achieve.

“Well, the coach and I will discuss that, and we will see where things are going to go from there. I want to run some 200m and see what the time is going to be,” he added.
