What was supposed to be a seismic title decider between two Nigerian giants at Rangers' Cathedral home turned to mayhem when the referee pointed to the spot in the 96th minute.

Enyimba players surrounded the officials in protest after defender Pascal Eze appeared to drag down Godwin Obaje before chaos ensued and the visitors stormed off. 

The Rangers' stewards and security were overpowered in what turned into ugly scenes on Sunday.

The Flying Antelopes now lead the pack with 64 points after the boardroom points, five clear of defending champions Enyimba and Remo Stars who are tied on 59 points with three games remaining.

Shooting Stars complete the top four, while the People's Elephant were hit with a triple whammy - docked all three points and slapped with a 3-0 defeat after walking off the pitch late on when a penalty was awarded to Rangers.

With the NPFL chiefs coming down hard, the door has been flung open for Remo Stars to gatecrash the two-horse race as the dramatic finale promises more twists and turns.
