Head coach Pape Thiaw has outlined his goals for the fixtures, emphasising that the encounters will serve as valuable opportunities to evaluate his squad, refine tactical approaches, and correct any weaknesses before the continental tournament.

The Teranga Lions will first take on Brazil on Saturday, November 15, in what promises to be a thrilling test of their competitive edge, before meeting Harambee Stars on Tuesday, November 18, a fixture expected to further shape their readiness for Africa’s biggest football stage.

Pape Thiaw reflected on Senegal’s upcoming encounter with Brazil, calling it an important test that builds on their past meetings while offering a chance to refine their tactics and reinforce team cohesion.

He emphasised that such high-profile friendlies are crucial for preparation, especially as Senegal also gears up to face Harambee Stars in another key fixture.

“Yes, Senegal vs. Brazil is a prestige match. We have certainly played Brazil twice. This will be the third time. The last two matches ended in a draw, I think in Singapore, and a victory in Lisbon, if I remember correctly,” he revealed in a press conference.

“Now, there will be a match in London. So, we know that Brazil is a team that needs no introduction. It is a very good team, and as we say, in preparation matches, it serves to prepare things, to solidify what we have achieved, and also to try to correct things.”

The veteran coach highlighted that facing strong opponents like Brazil and Harambee Stars provides Senegal with the perfect opportunity to identify and fix any weaknesses before the Africa Cup of Nations.

He added that these tests, including the upcoming clash against Harambee Stars, are crucial for fine-tuning the team’s readiness as they aim to defend their continental crown with confidence and unity.

“And I think that against teams like Brazil, we can find all these things, and it will allow us, if we have to rectify things, and there will surely be some, we will rectify them before this Africa Cup of Nations, which is close to our hearts,” he added.
