Nigerians have reacted to the proposed introduction of Video Assistant technology (VAR) in the local league. Many believe it is not the next thing for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The reaction is coming after the NFF president, Ibrahim Gasau, disclosed that the elite league in the country will see the introduction of the VAR to improve the quality of officiating in the league.
NPFL and VAR
The President of the Nigeria Referees Association, Sanni Zubair, had earlier revealed that the league will use VAR at the beginning of the season.
Corroborating Zubair, Gusau confirmed that the VAR would be in the league before the end of the current NPFL season.
Nigerians blast Gusau over introduction VAR in NPFL
Reacting to the claim by Gusau, Nigerians blasted the football chief and disclosed that the League is not ripe for VAR.
They should first improve the quality of match video transmission. We can't even watch a good replay yet, take things in order.

What's he smoking? The basics is yet to be done in the league but you want to introduce a technology which is very expensive

Awada KeriKeri…Night of a thousand laughs or what…where are the Stadia to operate the VAR from…even the National Stadium or Akpabio Stadium can’t afford VAR now…Are these people serious at all…

Misplaced priorities
I don't think this is the appropriate time to introduce the VAR in the league because of the cost and if we have the money to run the VAR we should first use it to improve on match transmission for our league to look exciting on the TV
