Napoli axe Osimhen from Pre-Season camp ahead of Galatasaray move, call up Nigerian-born Nosa Obaretin
Victor Osimhen has been excluded from Napoli’s pre-season squad list as his move to Turkish giants Galatasaray edges closer.
Meanwhile, Nigerian-born defender Nosa Obaretin has been named in the 30-man squad heading to Dimaro Folgarida under coach Antonio Conte.
Osimhen frozen out as Napoli await Galatasaray deal breakthrough
The clearest sign yet that Osimhen's time at Napoli is over came with his absence from the squad list released ahead of the club’s summer training camp.
Although Osimhen submitted a medical certificate ruling him out of initial physicals, the underlying reason is widely believed to be his anticipated transfer to Galatasaray.
The 26-year-old Nigerian striker has already agreed personal terms with the Turkish side after a successful loan stint last season. However, the transfer has hit a delay due to disagreements over the payment structure.
Napoli want to ensure the terms favour their financial outlook before finalising the deal. His exclusion comes as Napoli undergo a squad refresh under Conte, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Noa Lang, and Luca Marianucci all joining the camp.
Nigerian-born Obaretin earns Conte’s call-up after Bari spell
While Osimhen waits for his move, another player of Nigerian heritage is hopefully set to make headlines in Naples.
Nosa Obaretin, a promising Italian left-back with Nigerian roots, has been called up to the pre-season squad following his return from a loan spell at Serie B side Bari.
The 22-year-old impressed during his time away and has now been given a chance to fight for a spot under Conte.
