South Africa’s midfielder Teboho Mokoena has stirred excitement across the continent after naming Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen as his greatest player of all time, placing the Super Eagles striker above football icons Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mokoena made the statement on Instagram, posting a photo of Osimhen with the caption: “My GOAT”, accompanied by several goat emojis, a nod to the phrase “Greatest of All Time.”

The Bafana Bafana star’s tribute came after Osimhen’s outstanding performance in Nigeria’s 3–0 victory over the Benin Republic in their final 2026 World Cup qualifier.

Benin needed just a point to stay in contention, but Osimhen stole the spotlight with a sensational hat-trick, silencing the home crowd and reigniting Nigeria’s campaign.

His heroics didn’t just lift the Super Eagles, they also secured South Africa’s qualification for the World Cup.
