Nigerian winger Moses Simon continued his fine form but it wasn’t enough to prevent FC Nantes from falling to a 3-2 defeat against Le Havre in a Ligue 1 encounter at Stade Océane on March 30, 2025.
Le Havre opened the scoring in the 12th minute through midfielder Abdoulaye Touré to give the hosts an early lead.
Nantes responded in the 35th minute with a well-worked team goal, finished by striker Mostafa Mohamed, leveling the score at 1-1.
However, Touré struck again for Le Havre just before halftime, heading in a corner in the 42nd minute to restore their lead at 2-1.
Moses Simon scores
Moses Simon, a standout performer for Nantes this season, equalized for his side in the 48th minute.
The 29-year-old Super Eagles star has been a rare bright spot in an otherwise challenging campaign for the Canaries, with this strike marking his seventh goal of the season.
Alongside his eight assists, Simon has now been directly involved in over half of Nantes’ league goals this term, underlining his importance to the team.
Despite Simon’s heroics, Le Havre proved too strong on the day as the decisive moment came in the 72nd minute when Timothée Pembélé, on loan from Sunderland, scored his first Ligue 1 goal for Le Havre.
The result leaves Le Havre in 16th place in the Ligue 1 standings, while Nantes, now having lost three of their last five league matches, sit in 13th.
