Thiago Silva was substituted in the early stages of the first half against Tottenham on Sunday and initial diagnosis have revealed he will be out for more than a month.
Silva facing lengthy spell on the sidelines
Chelsea are now facing the prospect of being without their best defender for a crucial run of games including their Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund next week.
Chelsea statement on Thiago Silva has confirmed that “he has sustained a knee injury, underwent further assessment and scan confirmed damage to Thiago’s knee ligaments”. 🚨🔵🇧🇷 #CFC

Silva would likely be out of action until after the March international break and could miss up to six matches.
The 38-year-old has been in excellent form for Chelsea this season. One of the only members of the Chelsea team to maintain a high level of consistency despite everything else seemingly falling apart.
He has played 2,287 minutes this season, more than any other Chelsea player, and was recently rewarded with a new contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge till the end of next season.
Big Picture for Chelsea
Chelsea boss Graham Potter will certainly be disappointed to be without Silva for such a defining period but he has plenty of options in central defence.
Kalidou Koulibaly, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, who is unregistered in Europe, and Trevoh Chalobah will be relied upon to step in.
