Nyanza Region’s representatives to the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Championships ongoing in Kakamega, Agoro Sare, were recipients of additional funding after Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo boosted their coffers with two hundred thousand shillings.

The monetary boost, delivered on Thursday morning ahead of Agoro Sare’s final group tie against whipping boys Khorof Harar. The Homa Bay school must better the 8-0 score line Shanderema registered against Harar and hope for Central Region representative Kirangari to hold Shanderema.

Such an occurrence will give group leadership to Agoro Sare and thereby delay a head on collision with Rift Valley representative St Anthony's. Agoro Sare skipper Tony Junior welcomed the financial support and vowed to rally his charges to a greater showing.

Agoro Sare is located in PS Omollo's hood of Homa Bay while former Kenya international midfielder Sammy Shollei who also offered the school money on day two of the games is married to a lady from the same hood.

The school games have evidently sparked a feverish fanaticism as highly placed personalities clamour to be identified with great performers. PS Omollo has no sporting ties and was the last person expected to be swept by the school games fever.

Kakamega residents have over the days thronged Bukhungu stadium to watch the school games with small scale traders shutting down their businesses.
