The Spanish international, a standout product of Real Sociedad’s youth academy, made 236 appearances and scored 10 goals during his time at the Basque club.

Despite strong interest from Premier League giants Liverpool last summer, Zubimendi felt it was not the right time to walk away from the team that shaped him.

"The first question I had to answer was whether I wanted to stay at Sociedad," Zubimendi said as quoted by multiple sources.

"It wasn't the right time to leave. I felt Sociedad was still a step forward for me and what I could give the team was important. So, I felt it was best to stay."

His loyalty and maturity stood out in an era where top players often jump ship for bigger contracts or brighter spotlights. But this summer, the 25-year-old felt ready for the next chapter.

A crucial factor in Zubimendi’s decision to move to North London was Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

The midfielder spoke highly of his new coach’s football philosophy and attention to detail, calling him one of the best in Europe.

"I don't know what he saw in me, but what I saw in him was a top European coach," Zubimendi stated.

"When I wanted to leave, I wanted to go to a quality coach. I saw how obsessed he is with the details of the game, so I think I found the right one."

Zubimendi also praised the stature and environment at Arsenal, stating, "This is a change for me, and it's the change I wanted. From my first day here, I've noticed the greatness of the club, and I'm adapting."

His arrival is expected to boost Arsenal’s midfield depth significantly as the Gunners aim to challenge for major honors in the upcoming season.

With Zubimendi now wearing red and white, all eyes will be on how he translates his La Liga success to the Premier League.
