The 18-year-old has forced his way into the Manchester City team and earned the right to stay there with splendid performances and a maturity that allows him to play in a number of roles across the backline and even in midfield.
Lewis became the club's youngest-ever Champions League scorer when he found the net in a 3-1 win against Sevilla in November and his performances have gone from strength to strength.
With 17 appearances this season, it is clear he is growing into an important part of Pep Guardiola's plans. That being said, such importance comes with the expectation of higher rewards.
According to a report in the Mirror, Lewis is expected to go from earning £5,000 per week to a whooping £25,000 weekly if he signs the deal.
The deal is expected to be a five-year contract and will be the perfect reward for his impact this season.
Rico Lewis highly rated by Guardiola
Guardiola was so impressed by Lewis' performances that he was prepared to let Joao Cancelo leave the club on loan to Bayern Munich.
The City boss has also been vocal about his admiration for the teenager, singling him out for special praise after his starring role in their EFL Cup win over Liverpool last month.
