The Al Nassr forward was interviewed by popular British broadcaster Piers Morgan, who is an Arsenal fan. Piers asked Ronaldo what he thought of the Gunners' chances this season, and while the Portugal international was initially diplomatic with his response, noting the parity of the Premier League, he conceded that Arsenal were favourites.

“Could be, it's possible,” he answered. “I think the Premier League, it's the level of the teams, it's very, very similar. I mean, the top ones, but you know, the Premier League, it's always, you never know what's gonna happen.

“It's, it's very, very difficult league, very tough league, but Manchester are not going to win the league for sure because they have so many points behind right now. It's possible, yes, but I, I don't believe in that.

Pressed to give a direct response, Ronaldo said, “Yes, Arsenal can win the league,” to the delight of Morgan.

Ronaldo added that he did not view Arsenal as a rival, despite being at Manchester United when both clubs had a heated rivalry. He even admitted to liking the Gunners, revealing that he almost joined them.
