Lookman to Bayern fails after German champions sign Chelsea star
Bayern Munich have failed to complete the signing of Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, and the Nigerian is now set to stay at Atalanta with the window in Germany, England, Spain and Italy having closed.
Deal falls through
As Pulse Sports reported, Bayern Munich made a bid for Lookman yesterday: a loan with an option to buy. According to Corriere Bergamo, per MiaSanMia, the offer was a €5 million loan fee with a €28 million buy option.
La Dea rejected the offer immediately, as they wanted to sell the Nigerian, uninterested in going for the Bavarians' loan with an option to buy.
Since Pulse Sports reported that Atalanta has rejected the offer, Lookman's representatives have been working on securing his exit, and Bayern were thought to be preparing another offer. However, an hour before the deadline, Florian Plettenberg confirmed that the deal was off.
Bayern cave to Chelsea's demands
While Bayern failed to return with an edited bid for Lookman after Atalanta rejected their ‘option to buy bid’ they did when Chelsea refused to budge on Nicolas Jackson.
After Chelsea cancelled the Senegalese’s loan deal following Liam Delap’s injury, they informed Bayern the deal would only continue if the option to buy detail in the deal changed to an obligation. Bayern obliged and have now signed the former Villarreal man.
