This will be the first time the global showpiece will be held in an African country, and Letsile Tebogo believes it is the right time to continue their dominance.

During last year’s edition of the World Athletics Relays, South Africa reigned supreme in the men’s 4x400m relay, thanks to efforts from Gardeo Isaacs, Udeme Okon, Leendert Koekemoer and Zakithi Nene.

Belgium came in second in the race, with Botswana rounding up the podium in the event held at the Tianhe Sports Centre Stadium in Guangzhou, China.

Letsile Tebogo Fires Warning Once Again

Ahead of this year’s edition of the event, Letsile Tebogo has already started making his intentions with the relay teams clear.

In a recent post on his X (Twitter) handle, replying to World Athletics, the reigning Olympic 200m champion said: “One team, one dream😤.”

In a previous interview with World Athletics, Letsile Tebogo also issued a defiant message, insisting that Botswana will be on the world stage in the 4x400m relay for a very long time. “We are going to continue to dominate the 4x400m for as long as possible,” he said.

Meanwhile, the rivalry between Botswana and the USA will be renewed, following the clash that happened at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Botswana managed to edge out the USA, braving the heavy rain, and Letsile Tebogo will be hoping for a repeat of the same.

“I had to lock in differently to know that this is not my individual event, I am carrying three other people’s hopes with me,” Letsile Tebogo reflected.

“So, why not? I shouldn’t disappoint them. No matter how tired I am, no matter what’s going through my mind. I just stepped up; it was the team that pushed me through.”
