Kompany has arrived - Ibrahimovic, Tel & Licina shine as rampant Bayern Munich score 14 goals without ex-Eagles star
A Michael Olise-less Bayern Munich kicked off their pre-season campaign in emphatic style, securing a resounding 14-1 victory over FC Rottach-Egern in their first friendly match under new manager Vincent Kompany.
The game, held on Wednesday evening at Lake Tegernsee, showcased Bayern's offensive prowess even without Olise, who is with France in Paris 2024 for the Olympics as they concluded their training camp in the Bavarian Alps.
Kompany’s Bayern go rampant
The German champions demonstrated their depth and talent, with young striker Mathys Tel leading the charge with a hat-trick.
Academy products Adin Ličina and Mudaser Sadat also impressed, each netting a brace in the goal-fest.
Despite a strong start from Rottach-Egern's defence and goalkeeper Mario Weiß, who made several impressive saves early on, Bayern's relentless attack eventually broke through.
Ličina opened the floodgates with two quick goals around the 25-minute mark, followed by a Tel double.
Rottach-Egern managed a consolation goal through Tobias Schlichtner, briefly making it 4-1, but Bayern's dominance continued unabated.
By halftime, the score had ballooned to 7-1, with West Ham United-bound Noussair Mazraoui and Raphaël Guerreiro also finding the net.
Kompany, who has introduced unique things at the club, utilised the friendly to its full extent, fielding an entirely new eleven for the second half. The fresh legs maintained the pressure, with seven more goals coming after the break.
Notable scorers included Arijon Ibrahimović, Nestory Irankunda, and Sacha Boey, who forced an own goal.
In total, ten different Bayern players got on the scoresheet, highlighting the team's offensive depth and the potential of their youth academy.
The match ended with a deserved 14-1 scoreline in Bayern's favour, setting a positive tone for their pre-season preparations under Kompany's leadership.
