The competition, which began on November 10, has highlighted Kenya’s growing strength in women’s cycling on the continental stage.
The Kenyan team’s lineup consisted of five cyclists with Nancy Akinyi, a National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) scholarship holder, leading the squad with poise.
She was supported by teammates Julia Miring'u, Kendra Masiga, Grace Wairimu, and Monica Kiplagat, each bringing skills and endurance that made Kenya a team to watch throughout the tour.
Under the expert guidance of their Director Sportif, Cynthia Marita, the team demonstrated remarkable cohesion to place second.
The tour in Burundi brought together 33 cyclists from seven African nations, including the host nation, Kenya, Benin, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, and a combined team from Uganda and Senegal.
