‘It was like a chess match’ - Ballon d’Or nominee Lookman gives tactical analysis on Arsenal draw
Arsenal opened their 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League campaign with a 0-0 draw against Atalanta in Italy.
Lookman, who was recently nominated for the Ballon d'Or award, made his second appearance of the season for Atalanta.
He made his first appearance against Fiorentina, providing an assist and scoring the winning goal in their remarkable comeback.
Lookman speaks on the game
After the game, Lookman spoke on Atalanta and Arsenal tactics, comparing the game to a chess match.
According to Football on TNT Sports on X, Lookman said, “Obviously, we had a pen and unfortunate not to score that, but I think overall, we played a good game, so, yeah, take the positive out of the game.
“It seems to cancel each other out at times. The formation shape. Is that fair to say? It was kind of like a chess match, to be honest.
“Obviously, they're a good team, top team, and, we matched them tonight, which was good and, you know, take the draw and on to next.”
