Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has likened himself to Arsenal legend Thierry, specifically his winger-cum-striker profile.
Rashford came through the ranks as a striker but has featured both centrally and through the middle in his career. Henry also played both positions.
What Rashford said
The 27-year-old has an interview on the YouTube channel XBuyer, where he was asked about his playing style. He has the following to say:
"I see myself reflected in Henry,” Rashford started. “He's comfortable playing on the left and also in the middle. He's a free player.
“As I've developed, the number 9 position has become more comfortable, more natural. Things like playing with my back to goal are becoming easier for me. You're always in front of goal and always dangerous."
Meanwhile, Rashford’s openness to being a striker could come as a major boost to his Barcelona ambitions. He is pushing to join the Blaugrana, with his Manchester United chapter having seemingly ended.
However, the imminent signing of Nico Williams and the presence of Raphinha were thought to have diminished the chances of Rashford joining the club, as he was imagined first as a wing option.
His comments align with more recent reports that claim that the club will sign Rashford irrespective of what happens with the Nico deal, as they value his ability to play across the frontline.
